The Land Transport Authority (LTA) awarded the contract for the widening of Telok Paku Road and Nicoll Drive to Downer EDI Works Pte Ltd.
The contract, worth S$9.41 million, involved the widening of Telok Paku Road and Nicoll Drive from an undivided dual one-lane carriageway to a dual two-lane carriageway, and the construction of a new vehicular bridge over Changi Creek.
The road widening project was completed in July 2008 with the aim to cater to the increased traffic volume due to developments along Nicoll Drive, such as the Changi Cargo Complexes and Airport Logistics Park of Singapore.
The Loyang and Changi Coast Road bound carriageway of the new vehicular bridge was opened to traffic on 10 June and 8 July 2008 respectively. With the full opening of the vehicular bridge, the stretch of Telok Paku Road from the existing bridge to Nicoll Drive was converted to a one-way road in the direction of Changi Coast Road. A new roundabout was also created at the junction of Telok Paku Road and Nicoll Drive.
